One of my resolutions for 2019, although I haven't mentioned it anywhere, as this isn't a goal, this is something I want to be able to control. Cutting out all the negative things in my life was something I wanted to achieve in 2019 onward, as so much negative thoughts are brought through quite a few ways.
The very first day of 2019, I went on a massive unfollow, unfriend, block and mute spree. I unfollowed so many accounts I just didn't want to see anymore of, whether that be because they had no interest to me anymore, they had negative views or content or I just didn't want that comparison thought. I try not to compare myself to people or other people's content, as I am who I am, and if someone doesn't like what I do, then why follow me? Hence the unfollowing spree. It's better this way, rather than people being negative towards peoples content. There's nothing wrong with unfollowing someone on Instagram or Twitter if you just don't love their content or they have views you don't agree with, that's what the unfollow button is about. I unfollowed a good 200 Instagram profiles and a fair few on twitter totalling to around 350 profiles.
Facebook 'friends' also took a battering and I unfriend a good 150 people on there, as what is the point in having people on Facebook if neither you or them make that effort to even message each other? Or even if there's someone that posts so much crap on their time lines you can't bare to read anymore? Facebook seems to be somewhere for a lot of people to share their dirty washing, and not everyone wants to see that. This is where the mute and block buttons are great as those people that were giving me such a negative impact in life I just deleted and blocked out my life for them to be not welcome back in again.
This post is starting to sound rather negative itself, but I assure you, this was something I was so happy about taking the time out to do and get rid of every single person, account or page that was having a negative impact on my daily life scrolling through social media. So I've swapped all the bad for the good, where I follow people who inspire me, bring happiness or give me motivation. I've had so much more happiness within me and on social media since I did this! Good swaps guys!
That's also something I've inputted towards my diet plan as well! I've made loads of good swaps and completely changed my diet and actually read what is in the food I am buying or planning on eating. I use the Lifesum app on a daily basis to track how much I've been eating, drinking, how much exercise, how much protein, carbs and fat I'm eating, along side calorie counting! As I'm trying to gain weight within my muscles. So this app has been great for this! Since the start of the new year I've not eaten any bad food like chocolate, fatty crisps, takeaways etc. Okay I've had 2 curry's but they're homemade so I know whats been added into them. I've also been cooking more at home and preparing my lunch every evening for the following day. I've been aiming to drink 2.5 litres of water a day, and my gosh do I feel SO much better for it! I feel so much more awake and energetic since I've actually been looking after my body, eating healthily and joined the gym doing 3-4 sessions a week!

Basically, by taking action and controlling what you see, eat, drink and do in life and making those positive life choices, it is possible to cut out the negativity and live as a happier you! I've felt so much happier since all of these changes and I will continue to do it as it's what makes me happy!
What changes have you made for 2019?
I did a similar thing back in 2018 and honestly it was the BEST decision I ever made. I applaude you for removing negativity in your life, as its so hard to do so nowadays because of how prevalent social media is!
ReplyDeleteSuch a good decision. I did this last year and feel so much better off for it. I will continue to as well if toxic people try to enter my life. You need to be positive and put yourself first sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea, I do it occasionally but definitely need to go on a big session of removing every account that only brings out the negative.
