Lifestyle| What I've Been Reading & Watching Recently

Laura Ashley Hotel Coventry

January is finally completed, but I wasn't bothered at how slow January was anyway. I enjoyed more nights in reading and watching Netflix, and really taking some time to out to myself to relax, enjoying the time chilling out in the evenings instead of constantly working at my desk. So let's get into this blog post where I'm going to be chatting all about the shows I've been obsessed with and the books I've read etc.

Laura Ashley Hotel Coventry

Let's start with what shows I've been obsessed with on Netflix for starters:

YOU on Netflix

Never did I ever think me and Adam would get so obsessed with this show. We love our Netflix series, but it's not very often we find one that we gel with and can binge watch. This is definitely one to watch, that will not only make you question why you are watching it, but you will also kind of get attached to the characters within the show. I don't want to give too much away for those that haven't watched YOU yet, but it's a man that falls in love rather quickly, but is kind of like a creepy stalker at the same time. Honestly just watch it and you'll understand what I'm trying to describe. We're currently half way through Season 2!

Riverdale on Netflix

Adam first got me into this series and I've never been so hooked on a series before. We even google when the next series is out as we love it so much. To describe it, I would say it's based on a high school group of teenagers who love to figure out murders and mysteries, but also with a lot of twists everywhere, but keeps you gripped throughout and fills you with all kinds of different emotions. Certainly one to watch if you love American high school style series or films.

Love Island on ITV 2

I cannot tell you how obsessed I am with Love Island. Never have I watched it before, but this year I thought why not, let's see what all the fuss is about shall we! And I don't even know why I'm obsessed with it, it's just so full of drama and twists that I can't help but watch! Are you watching Winter Love Island right now?

Sex Education on Netflix

Sex Ed honestly should be watched by not only growing teenagers, but also everyone. It showcases all different types of people, especially the LGBTQ community. It's a brilliant series filled with not only humour, but it kind of explains more about gays, lesbians etc. and it shows an equality going on there but also showcases what happens in the real world, especially in high schools. This show will have you laughing your head off, but also learning a few things along the way without you realising. Certainly one to watch.

Moving onto books, I made a target this year to read a book a month, which so far I am achieving, so let's see what book I read and which others I have planned to read:

Normal People by Sally Rooney

I was given this book as a Christmas present from Adam as I spotted it on a friends Instagram who loves books. I then saw it in WHSmiths and asked Adam for it of Christmas of course. I was so intrigued by this book that I started reading it on Christmas Day. It took me a little while to really get into the book, but once I did, I honestly could not put it down! The book takes you through a whirl wind of different emotions the characters go through, based on a young couple who see each other on and off. To put it the right way, I'd say it's a calmer version of 50 Shades of Grey, but not as dramatic. It's based on two young people who are sexually attracted to each other but then go away to University but continuously bump into each other. Normal People also showcases an abusive and emotionally abuse relationship in a character's family which is interesting. This book is certainly worth a read if your looking for something different.

Unexpected Lessons In Love by Lucy Dillon

I thought I'd treat myself to a couple of new books, and this one in particular drew my attention, as I seem to fall for the romantic comedy style books, if the blurb draws me in to the story within the book, I'm sold, I'll read it there and then if I could. Romantic comedies I love as films, so I'm sure this is going to be a book I will like.

Never Greener by Ruth Jones

Never Greener I've spotted a few times in the books isles of shops, I'm not sure why, but I'm intrigued to see how I get on with this book. I'm also excited by new books, as it inspires me to keep reading so I can move on to even more lovely books. I also like to read more to improve my own vocabulary, as when I was younger I honestly didn't read as much as I should have to educate myself more, so now I'm making that step to reading more and I'm loving it.

Everything Is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo*

Ahh the very book I've been reading since September! I was kindly sent this book last year and only got half way through it and completely forgot about it. It honestly has changed my mind set on things, as everything really is figureoutable! Even saying it makes it seem possible, even if this is you thinking your wildest dreams are impossible to reach, then say, everything is figureoutable, you just need to figure out how to get to where you want to. I'm excited to get back into this book and finish it hopefully way before the end of February, but we shall see!

What have you been reading or watching recently?
