Holes - Belgrade Theatre Review

Do you remember, if you went to secondary school around the same time as me around 6-7 year ago, you'll remember doing English or English literature on either Of Mice And Men or Holes. I remember having to read between the lines and see whats actually happening. From what I remember, I only ever watched the film Holes. But my memory is so bad I can hardly remember how it went either! So seeing Holes live on stage was a nice and different way of watching the story unravel.

Let's start off with the whole set up of the performance. The set was very well put together with all the 'holes' and how they set the scene from the present day in the show and in the past. The costumes were down to a T, and the actors had a very authentic Texan accent. It was very intriguing how they all perfected their lines and accents perfectly to express the story. What amused me the most during the show was a certain shower scene where they switched the show up and used some Bruno Mars and Cardi B songs. I found this part rather amusing with how the actors were showcasing this scene. I also thoroughly enjoyed the humorous phrases thrown in here and there during the show.

They way the reptiles were moved was certainly something different and unexpected but also rather amusing to watch! Holes is at the Belgrade Theatre from Tuesday 18th February to Saturday 22nd February. Certainly a different one to watch at the theatre, especially if you are a fan of the film.
