Advice | The Growth In My Blog Over 6 Years

Isobel Celine

Th 16th May (I'm sure?) marks my blogging journey being 6 years now, we all know how fast time flies. I started this blog when I was about 16/17, not knowing what on earth I was doing. I started taking photos in my back garden with a shoe box as a tripod. I didn't know where I was going with these posts, apart from the fact I loved writing about my outfits and creating them.

Let's just say my personal style has certainly evolved for the better over the last 6 years, but also more so in the last 2 years. I now kind of know what my style is, but with colours, I'm very unpredictable when it comes to what I wear daily. One day I could want to dress all feminine and classy, the next I could be dressed so casual and comfy with just jeans, trainers and a t-shirt. I don't just have one style so I'm someone you can't really narrow down with style, as I'm always trying out something new.

I'm going to take you through a journey in this post, whether you've been here from the beginning or you've only just discovered my space on the internet, thank you for joining me.

As I mentioned, I started out with fashion posts not knowing what or where I was going with my little blog. Until I was invited to my first event in Birmingham for the My Bandage Dress Autumn/Winter Collection showing. This was the day I realised what this blogging industry was about. Even though I felt massively out of place at this event, and quite a few bloggers looked down their noses at me being such a small blogger with having only like 500 followers at the time compared to their like 15-20K plus followers. I realised I need to step my game up.

So I decided to start doing photoshoots elsewhere outside in different places, I started to work with some brands and work a momentum up with my blog and Instagram. My fashion blog soon turned into something more than just outfit posts. I started writing about beauty, lifestyle, travel and even advice posts. But then one year my page views were doing so well where I was hitting 15,000 page views a month, which to me at the time was insane. Now a days it's harder to reach that. I'm finally back to around 10,000 page views a month which I'm happy with but always like to push for more. As I love to share my blog with others and love to also support other bloggers blogs, so please do leave your link in the comments for me to have a read of.

I didn't know much about SEO at the time (still not quite so sure now lol). But I learn something new everyday. I learnt about my sites URL, domain authority and so many different analytics things that I never knew before. I'm still learning all about this now, so if you have a blog post to do with these types of things like SEO, please do share it and leave them in the comments for me to check out.

Another thing I grew to love through blogging is the events I was invited to - there's a tab on that called 'Blogger Events' if you want to see what different ones I've been to and blogged about. This was such a lovely way to meet new people who you get on with so easily as they have the same interests as you; blogging. I've met a few bloggers from events who now I'm really close friends with, Lizzie from Hello Lizzie Bee to name just one through Coventry events, but also Cat from What Cat Says from a post card writing thing we were both involved in. Blogging has certainly allowed me to make some incredible friendships.

Next there is an amazing addition to blogging, which is being able to work with so many incredible brands. I've adored working with the likes of Femme Luxe, Boohoo, Sunkissed, Dodo Pizza, Belgrade Theatre, The Cosy Club, Creative Nature, My Mask Time and Erborian just to name a few, yet so many more I've been so lucky to have worked with. There's still so many brands I'd love to work with, with the likes of Primark, Blogosphere Magazine and Dior to name a few dream brands I would adore to work with.

I couldn't be more grateful and happy to have been on this 6 year journey, and I'm sure there will be a lot more to come as my blog grows with me.

Everyday I will continue to learn and grow with not only blogging, but with all my other social platforms as well, like Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Tik Tok and Facebook. So if you've followed me on this journey from however long or your new, thank you again for your support.
