Lifestyle | The Greenway Hotel & Spa Cheltenham Review - A Luxury Countryside Staycation

The Greenway Hotel & Spa

The perfect luxury getaway in the Gloucestershire countryside just outside of Cheltenham town centre. I was kindly invited to stay at The Greenway Hotel & Spa not too long ago for a lovely luxury stay. Surrounded by 40 acres of English countryside, luxurious interior design, incredible staff and delicious food at this 4 star hotel.

Service

I have to give the service of the entire hotel staff a 10/10, every staff member was wonderfully polite, helpful & so well mannered. It was an absolute delight being looked after by them throughout our stay. I always say that the service wherever you go, always makes the experience, and the team at The Greenway are absolutely exceptional.

Rooms

Let’s start off with how incredible the rooms are at The Greenway. I was so grateful for the fact we were able to experience the Manor Four Poster Room, especially since the hotel has had a huge and beautiful refurb of this room and others. The beautiful neutral and classic interior was very my taste. With views of the hotel gardens and Cotswolds Hills, a freestanding bath, walk in shower and plenty of space around the room. The hotel also offered a turn down service which was such a lovely surprise to come back to after our delicious dinner which I will get to further on. I felt like we were staying in a modern day Bridgeton setting. The bed was soft yet incredibly comfortable. An absolutely exquisite room that I cannot recommend enough.

Food

We were able to try a variety of food from the dinner menu and of course breakfast. For dinner they had a separate vegan menu for me, which was lovely that they had vegan options - also gluten free available. For my partner Adam, the chose from he main menu. I chose the cauliflower soup for starters which was so delicious. It actually came out looking very fancy with a floret of cauliflower in the middle of the bowl and our server poured the soup around it. Adam went for the Jerusalem artichoke and truffle which he hadn’t tried before - unfortunately wasn’t for him, but you don’t know until you try. We were greeted with bread, oil and a delicious spread before our starters came out also.

For our in between courses I had a falafel hummus which was divine, whilst Adam had a fish style meringue which he tried but also wasn’t for him. Something we love about these A La Carte meals is trying food we haven’t tried before.

As for mains, I went for a Butternut Squash Risotto which I’d never tried before, but unfortunately wasn’t for me - I honestly am the fussiest eater ever, but I love to try new things, fortunately Adam ate it and he really enjoyed it. Adams main looked rather lovely, Beef Short Rib with mashed potato, carrot, corn, black garlic and Cavolo Nero. I ate some of his mash, as if you know me, I love anything that involves potatoes.

Finally for desserts, we both enjoyed the Chocolate and Orange Tart with Raspberry Sorbet which was absolutely divine. The flavours were just incredible in this dish and honestly I even said to one of the servers, it was like a flavour explosion it was that delicious, absolutely topped off the meal. We also had a bottle of non alcoholic red wine with our dinner also which was lovely, as we aren’t really ones for drinking alcohol very much.

Breakfast was a mixture of continental including fresh pastries, cereals, tea, coffee, juices etc. Followed by a menu of cooked breakfasts. Adam opted for porridge with a
cappuccino, whilst I went for the delicious English vegetarian breakfast which was lovely alongside a cup of English breakfast tea. Breakfast was so delicious and filled us up for quite some time.

Spa

Our final stop during our stay was the lovely Elan Spa they have at the hotel. With a newly installed outdoor Jacuzzi, thermal spa area, relaxing loungers and pool. We enjoyed a good hour or so of relaxing time alongside a swim during our time, and wow was it needed. They of course offer spa treatments and also have a gym located in the spa in a separate area also.

Overall, our stay was absolutely wonderful and I would be delighted to go back and stay again. If you are looking for a lovely staycation, night away or looking to stay in Cheltenham, then definitely I would recommend you staying at The Greenway Hotel & Spa - they also offer afternoon tea also.
