There’s so many classic musicals that everyone seems to know and love, The Little Shop of Horrors is certainly one of them. But would you believe me if I said this was the first time I’ve actually seen it? Having never watched the classic film, it was fantastic to experience at the Belgrade Theatre for the first time.
From the moment the curtain went up, I was in awe of how brilliant the stage had been presented. The set brought the world of Little Shop of Horrors to life, creating a fantastic backdrop for the storyline and of course with the star of the show being the fabulously crafted plant itself. I was rather fascinated by the plant & as it grew bigger throughout the performance, the details were getting better & better. I wasn’t expecting it to get so large throughout! It truly was fantastically made and such an impressive feature to the production.
I have to say, the casting was a real highlight. The performers felt so well suited to their roles, bringing the characters to life with real energy and huge personalities. As always with a musical, the music really stood out. The harmonies were absolutely on point throughout, with the whole cast coming together to create a fantastic sound that really added to the experience.
As someone coming to the Little Shop of Horrors for the first time, I enjoyed seeing this much-loved musical brought to life on stage. The combination of impressive staging, fabulous casting and wonderful musical performances throughout, made it a thoroughly entertaining theatre experience
