I actually wrote something like this a few years ago I realise and I looked back to see what made me happy back then and compared it to now. All the things I'm going to be writing about in this blog post seems similar to what I was once happy with, but the difference now, is that I do things that make me happy for different reasons. The one thing I don't do anymore is Art. Which I used to love, but seem to have grown apart from that hobby. The most I'll do is colour in a therapy colouring book and that doesn't even happen often. Happiness is one of the things we should all strive for in life. As really, nothing really matters if your happy and content in life. We don't need everything in life to be happy. But anyway, let's dig into what makes me happy and how these things
could also make you happy too.
The Great Outdoors
There's so many of us that have turned into zombies. I'm not even joking, look around you in the street and see how many people are staring at a screen or looking down at their phone. We're in a zombie apocalypse before we even know it! I love getting away from the screen and just getting outside, as this can give you a sense of freedom and happiness just taking a breathe outside, granted not so fun when it's raining, but who cares about the weather, embrace it! You dance in the rain if you want to - I'll certainly join you with my wellies and jump in the puddles, not even kidding when I actually still love jumping in puddles - no shame (inner child is released). Taking that time to yourself to just sit outside and venture outdoors, especially in the gorgeous sunshine to just relax, breathe and take in the sounds around you. I especially love the sound of birds tweeting in the peaceful surroundings.
Family Time
I recently had a bereavement, therefore made me realise even more how important family time is. I see so many young people on their phone with their grandparents not paying them much attention. They're running out of time and soon will realise when it's too late that they had all this precious time wasted on screen time! The point I'm getting at here is the fact we lose people one day and we need to make the most of the time we have with our loved ones. No matter whether they aren't around that often, taking that time to spend with family is one of my favourite things to do and making memories with them that you won't forget, even those little funny moments you always remember and reminisce over time and time again.
Holidays
Everyone loves a holiday don't they? This doesn't always mean having to go abroad, even within the UK or your own country, or even a spa break is a perfect little getaway. Just that short break from everything can bring happiness and memories - one of my favourite things.
Taking Photos
I take photos a lot. Especially when I see something that will mean a special moment, even the silliest of photos or of somewhere I really enjoyed. We all focus too much on that perfect Instagram picture, when we should be taking pictures, unedited that are realistic with meaning.
Cleaning
Bit of a strange one, but this is honestly something that brings me joy and that feeling of productivity. There's just something about getting everything tidy and organised that makes you feel like you've got your life together.
Exercising
Not something everybody loves. But honestly after a workout or just a walk with the dog it makes my head feel so much clearer and relieves the stress of the day I've had or whatever you've been through in the day. Joining the gym was one of my best moves of 2019 yet and I couldn't be happier going 4-6 times a week and working on getting myself stronger and toning up. The fact I can feel better about the fact I can actually do more than one pull up amazes me. Just working on your physical strength can be so rewarding.
Experimenting
This could be with outfits, make up, food you name it. But lately, I've been experimenting more with my outfits and I've put myself on a spending ban so that I focus on what I already have and get creative with all the clothes that are waiting to be worn on that clothing rail. I've found out more about my style this way on what I go for the most and especially the colour palette I wear the most - pink, animal print and black. I've also been experimenting with my make up since I went to the Suzie Gee MUA Skin Masterclass. This masterclass made me rethink how I thought about make up, I used to feel like it was a chore putting it on, yet now I've experimented more with different colours, concealers, highlighters you name it, as well as make up brushes, as I always head towards my beauty blenders more than anything else. I didn't realise how flawless brushes make your make up look! Food wise, I've been making a meal planner every Sunday for the week so that I experiment with food more and try more flavours and meals. I've even been cooking stir fry and curry's which I haven't done before. So it's helping me to gain more knowledge in the kitchen too.
