Theatre | Once The Musical - Belgrade Threatre Review

Once The Musical

Oh the joys of the Irish...As I am half Irish so it is part of my life & in my blood, the fact this Musical was based in Ireland made me so pleased & made me feel proud to be partially Irish. Once was brilliantly performed, especially with the live band which featured a right mixture of instruments, from violins to guitars, pianos to drums. They had it all. So lets jump right in and see what I thought of Once The Musical.

There was so much wit and humour throughout the performance that really did make me laugh, especially the character played by Emma Lucia, she played a Czech girl who had THE best accent! All the actors played their parts brilliantly, whether it was the Irish or Czech accent, they were expressed perfectly in my eyes. One thing I learnt from this performance was, to not live your life in fear, whether that be death, losing someone or just danger in itself. This made me realise that I feel like this a lot, as I do fear a lot of things, I may seem strong on the outside, but on the inside I am scared of these things and I'm sure a lot of us are, but Once has taught me to let go of that and just live. As we never know how long we have left in life, so grab hold of your dreams and go for them, no matter what it takes.

Based on a hoover fixing singer, who falls for a Czech girl, but is also feeling lonely without an Irish girl he fell for that flew away to New York, this is the loveliest story to be told in a typical Irish way.

If you love musicals, you will certainly love this one, especially if you are one for the Irish. I took my Mum along to this performance and she loved it due to the whole Irish basis of it all. The amount of humour within the show just had me laughing so much, and I love a show more when it makes me laugh.

Once the Musical is performing at The Belgrade Theatre Coventry from Tuesday 10th March to Saturday 14th March. You can purchase tickets here.
