Dirty Dancing Review - Belgrade Theatre

Taking you back to the 1960's with this absolute classic of a musical. Dirty Dancing is on at the Belgrade this week from Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 6th November for a night of incredibly entertaining, sexy & fun filled night. Would you believe I've never seen the film before of this musical? I know, I know, I MUST watch it now that I've seen the fantastic musical. The theatre was filled with excited people in a range of age groups, ready to get their boogie on to this spectacular musical. Let's salsa dance right into this review then shall we...

Firstly, I have to say that the cast were absolutely BRILLIANT! They were full of humour, incredible talent from dancing, singing, acting and playing different instruments. I was very impressed by the saxophone players who did an amazing job throughout the show. The lead actor and actress were absolutely brilliant and the final dance was what everyone was waiting for with the lifts, I may not have watched the film, but who isn't familiar with the famous lift in Dirty Dancing to the heart stopping song (I've Had) The Time Of My Life! I've still got it playing in my head whilst I'm writing this.

I took my lovely Mum along with me to see the show, as I thought there was no one better to take along with me to see this show, as she loves the film and it took her back to her youth of those times where everyone would always be out, dressed up and dancing the night away. Makes me wish I was alive in that era, as it's just a fun filled time where everyone would love to dance. Speaking of, watching this show has made me want to learn how to do the salsa even more, as I've always wanted to learn how to do that.

As for the set, again, brilliantly thought through and so was the amazing HUGE neon sign on stage that we walked into the room to see. Such a brilliant welcoming into the show. I have to mention there are some funny parts to the show, especially a bit of skin being shown from the lead actor Austin Walks who plays Johny Castle in the show, I'll say no more...It was a beautifully played show by the entire cast, they had the audience singing and dancing to all the classic songs played throughout also. As well as one older actor who was absolutely fantastic and had me and my Mum in stitches every time he was on stage, I wish I knew the actors name as I wasn't too sure, but honestly, you need to watch this show as its an all rounder for humour, sexiness, entertainment and absolutely incredible talent.
