Think Asian cuisine with a hint of Christmas. I was kindly invited back to FOMO Coventry, which if you are planning on visiting I would say do it, even if it’s just for drinks, the whole look of the place is fantastic & perfect for all those Instagram photos. If you’d like to see what the full restaurant looks like, check out my full review of FOMO when it first opened here. To see what the Christmas menu was like, read on.
We were greeted with a 3 course meal that is £29.99pp which I actually think is rather reasonable for this time of year, as a lot of other restaurants and pubs are doing Christmas dinner courses for between £40-£60 which when you think about it, per person is rather a lot. On to the menu, there were 4 starters to chose from, and one being vegan, bang bang cauliflower. I have to say which was absolutely delicious, and I don’t normally like that! But I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it.
As for mains, there were 4 options again & only one vegan options, being tofu skewers with fig and honey chutney. I did ask for this to come out Vegan, as of course honey isn’t vegan, so that did concern me a little, especially with the fact it’s labelled vegan/vegetarian. Unfortunately I wasn’t too much of a fan of the tofu skewers. The coating which was rather like a batter was quite nice, but I wasn’t very keen on it. They did come out from the kitchen nicely presented though as you can see from the pictures.
As there were no sides included, I ordered salt and pepper chips on the side to fill me up just incase - and if you know me well, give me a bowl of chips and I’m happy. Especially their salt and pepper chips, ugh *chefs kiss*! So delicious.
As for puddings, me being vegan as well as lactose in tolerant, there wasn’t one vegan option which I was rather disappointed at. But we did order the raspberry white chocolate cheesecake for my partner Adam, which he really enjoyed.
My overall thoughts? I can’t say I personally would be going back for the Christmas menu seeing as it’s very limited vegan options, but if you are into Asian/Thai style food, I’d definitely recommend you going to visit. Even so, if you are looking to go somewhere for an evening of drinks & dancing, FOMO usually always have a pretty good DJ or singer playing around their cherry blossom tree inside and you can hop onto their swinging chair for a photo in front of their FOMO sign. If FOMO were to bring out more vegan dishes - Veganuary is coming up! I’d definitely be heading back to try them out, but even for those that aren’t vegan, I’d definitely go and try them out & see what you think for yourself. The aesthetic is beautiful regardless!
Thank you to FOMO for inviting me down to review, I’ll definitely be back there soon, even for evening drinks & their delicious salt & pepper chips. The little things mean the most to me, especially a bowl of chips. Have you visited FOMO Coventry before?
