Travel | Hotel Indigo Coventry Review - The Best Hotel In Coventry

 Hotel Indigo

Coming from a local, Hotel Indigo Coventry is the best new addition to the city. With exceptional service, superb cleanliness, modern interiors with a nod towards the historical and famous landmarks that Coventry is known for. Hotel Indigo is everything Coventry has been missing. Let's take you through everything from the hospitality, service, rooms, facilities and everything inbetween.

Rooms

The room we stayed in was absolutely spotless. With fluffy white towels, super comfortable bed and pillows, refreshments, free WiFi, modern interiors containing the historical features of Coventry throughout and such a good size space.

The bathroom held amenities from a natural brand ‘Bramley’ which, in my opinion, was a lovely added touch to have an economical touch towards the environment. You can also purchase these during your stay if you wished.

Hotel Indigo have different sized rooms to suit your needs, from twin beds to standard to king size to suites. All at brilliant price points. Considering how much investment has gone into this development, the price point in my opinion is superb.

Interiors

Reflecting Coventry’s cultural past, rich automotive and bicycle history, Hotel Indigo interior designers have really nailed it when representing the historic parts of Coventry. With nods towards Lady Godiva and Peeping Tom in the room features. As well as a modern twist of art around the Coventry Cathedral. I absolutely adored how beautifully modern Hotel Indigo had centred the whole hotel around the cities history.
There’s even a classic car situated front and centre stage of the reception area, a striking red Caton with luxurious modern features but a nod towards traditional craftsmanship.

Location

Situated in the city centre of Coventry, a stones throw away from the Coventry Train Station. Perfect for those visiting with or without a car, as you can park in the train station car park. With a nearby coffee shop, a 5 minute walk into the city centre where you are surrounded by Coventrys history, many shops, restaurants and bars. Not to mention the Coventry Cathedral, Herbert Art Gallery, Transport Museum, Lady Godiva and so many more attractions in the city. Over the road there’s also a shopping area from the hotel with a variety of shops. There’s also a current development in the area where there are plans to be more new restaurants and bars being added, so watch this space. Hotel Indigo is also a brilliant place for fellow content creators to get beautiful content (I personally would ask the staff at reception first if you would like to take pictures inside the hotel, just to make them aware and it being common courtesy). This would be the perfect place for work meetings also.

Service

I could not fault the service at Hotel Indigo Coventry. The staff were lovely, attentive, friendly and served with a smile. The staff represented the hotel beautifully and were all wonderful throughout our stay. Nice hotel staff is sometimes hard to come by, but clearly Hotel Indigo’s recruitment team have done a brilliant job in finding brilliant people to represent this hotel.

I also have to add that the hotel smelt divine constantly, which I asked the staff members at reception what it was, and it was their diffuser that they actually sell and you can buy. Such a divine smell!

Food

The Cogs Restaurant is located on the ground floor of Hotel Indigo Coventry, with a wide variety of food choices, especially for meat eaters. Unfortunately, I did find that there wasn’t much vegetarian/vegan choices available. As well as the labelling of the menu not being as clear as it should be for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. I have given feedback to the hotel & Cogs restaurant in the hope that this can be amended, as it truly is a lovely restaurant, there just needs to be clearer labelling and options for those who have different requirements to others.

For mains I went for the Superfood Salad, which included pink grapefruit, tenderstem broccoli, spinach, green kale, walnuts, sesame seeds and brown rice. Topped with a dressing that wasn’t stated on the menu, but I also didn’t ask if there was a dressing (just my preference to have a salad without dressing - fussy eater over here unfortunately). My partner went for a beef burger with fries, which came presented on a wooden board, which I thought was a nice touch, but actually not so practical to eat off of. Regardless,  my partner enjoyed this meal and I did eat a few of his fries, which were delicious I might add (I am a chip addict, what can I say).

As for desserts, I ordered the Speciality Cheese Selection, which the menu stated came with local apples, spiced chutney, sourdough bread, glazed fig and celery. I ordered this without celery, as I’m not one for wasting food with items that I wouldn’t personally eat. The board came out with a selection of cheeses, crackers, chutney and grapes. I did ask that there was supposed to be sourdough, which was quickly rectified. The cheeses were absolutely divine, I even had to ask the waitress where one of them was from, Snowdonia Cheese Company. I now need a fridge full of them, they were so delicious!

My partner went for a delectable stick toffee pudding, which I of course had to try a few mouthfuls. I have to say, this was the nicest sticky toffee pudding I’d ever tried. Divine!

Breakfast included a continental and cooked breakfast, with a variety of cereals, fruits, juices, pastries, breads and more to choose from including gluten free options. The only downside was you have to pay extra for cappuccino, lattes and espressos, which in my opinion, would think these would come included in a breakfast price. I loved the aesthetic of the breakfast area with the rustic pantry feel to it. Neither myself or my partner tried the cooked breakfast, as it was too early for us to eat a big cooked breakfast. I also thought again, there needed to be more vegan/vegetarian options available and labelled on the menu.

Onsite facilities

Unfortunately there is no spa in this Hotel Indigo, but they do have a lovely sized gym with treadmills, a cable machine, free weights, fresh towels, water machine and more. The gym was spotless with views of the hustle and bustle of the Coventry train station.

Hotel Indigo

Overall, I would highly recommend staying at this hotel out of any other hotel in Coventry. It’s the hotel that Coventry has been missing. It perfectly represents everything the city is about and has to offer. At a reasonable price point and perfect location, I couldn’t recommend anyone visiting for the weekend, for work or just visiting in general, this has to be the best hotel in Coventry in my opinion.
