Lifestyle | 7 Ways To Embrace Spring

Isobel Celine

The season that brings beautiful change, growth & an awakening inside. For me personally, Spring is a sign that you can bloom again, even after all the darkness of winter. As soon as the beautiful carpet of bluebells arise & take over the woodland floors, filling the English countryside air with its incredibly fragrant beauty once again. The bluebells remind me year after year, that change can be beautiful, no matter how dark it's been for so long.

1. Get Outdoors

The best way to embrace Spring in my opinion, is to get outdoors, especially every chance you get in the sunshine - even more so if you live in the UK. Explore the countryside & listen to the sounds around you. Notice everything, from the birds singing, to the buzz of the bumble bees around the newly blooming flowers. Look out for the fragrant wild garlic, which you could be foraging to create many delicious recipes from - I'm yet to make a wild garlic pesto! Something I always notice even more so in Spring is how nature comes back to life and how green everything becomes again. With the ferns shooting back out to uncurl their leaves, the heavenly scent of roses blossoming. It truly is such a beautiful season to embrace the great outdoors in. Next time you're in a grassy environment, take your shoes & socks off & walk barefoot in nature to feel more grounded & connected with nature - this truly does wonders for your headspace too.

2. Refresh Your Environment

This goes for decluttering not only your home & physical spaces, but also you're digital space, like deleting apps you don't use, phone storage that's cluttered up & maybe even who you're following online. Everything. They don't call it the big Spring clean for nothing. I don't know about you, but I find cleaning & decluttering my space the most therapeutic & calming thing to do, especially for my headspace. If the house is clean, so is my mind. As for the digital space, this is so important for you, especially when scrolling online, as we are all guilty of comparison that's for sure. Unfollowing accounts that don't uplift you or give you a sense of positivity, hit the unfollow button. It's nothing personal, it's for you to have a better headspace when you open up your phone.

3. Reconnect With Your Body

This goes for feeling your body with delicious and nutritious food, alongside nourishing your body with daily exercise. Whether this be with yoga, pilates, gym sessions or a daily walk to hit your step count. Exercise shouldn't be a chore, it should be a daily habit to keep our bodies moving & help our bodies as we get older to stay mobile & keep the blood flowing. It also works wonders for your mental state - trust me.

4. Set Intentions, Not Just Goals

There's a quote I have on my vision board that says 'A goal without a plan is just a wish.' which is something I stand by, especially when it comes to manifesting your dream life. No one is going to hand you the life you want on a plate. You have to go out there & create it yourself. Spring is the season to plant seeds, both literally in the garden & in your mind. Take this time to reflect on what you want to focus on over the next few months or even the year & put a plan in place as to what you want to achieve & how you are going to achieve it.

5. Try Something New

The Spring is the best time to take up a new hobby, especially if you want to get into gardening. With the better weather around & the season of growth. What better time to take up a new hobby to also get you away from the screens & be at one with nature. Gardening is a beautiful hobby to take up, as you plant the seeds you want to grow & nurture them as they go along. You can look back at their stunning growth & say "I did that." It's honestly the most rewarding achievement, especially when growing beautifully blooming flowers or growing delicious fresh produce in the garden. Don't underestimate how lovely gardening can be - don't knock it until you try it, you might be surprised.

6. Let Go Of What's No Longer Needed

Just like the trees shred their branches & bud new leaves. Leave behind any negativity within your mindset, with previous relationships that no longer serve you & to let go of the darkness. Be open to the light of Spring & release old stories that bring back negative thoughts. It's all about your mindset. Only allow the light in, not the darkness.

7. Practise Optimism & Gratitude

Notice the little things, just like when you are outdoors. Or even the little gestures people around you do for you or others. Being grateful for every little thing in life is how you feel truly happy. Expressing gratitude for affording a food shop, having a roof over your head or even having fresh water. These small things for you, are huge things for someone else, somewhere in the world. See the bigger picture & express gratitude for everything you have in life. Journalling is also a lovely way to write down what you are grateful for. Grab a pen & paper, or even write in the notes of your phone, 3 things that you're grateful for today. It doesn't take much to express how grateful you are for things.

Embrace Spring as a season to notice more, the little things are always the big things in life from walks in nature, to quality time with loved ones. Make the most of the lighter evenings that have graced our presence & soak in that warming sunshine. Don't forget lovelies, embrace what you want to achieve in life, but also don't forget to stop & smell the roses along the way.
