How To Style Tartan With A French Twist

Winter has certainly come late this season! I love all seasons, but the most I love about winter is wrapping up warm in a coat and styling it with something that stands out. Tartan is definitely the most wintery pattern and trend I can think of that always stands out and comes in and out of fashion every year. I haven't worn a tartan dress in years! Especially one as cute as this one from Femme Luxe!

The dress itself does come with its own tartan belt as well, but I felt it wasn't fitted enough around the waist of the dress, which is wear my trusty Gucci belt always comes in handy. I bought this belt for my 21st Birthday, which is my 1st ever designer purchase, but the second designer accessory being added to my wardrobe - Valentino kitten heels being the 1st addition. Luxury pieces, although expensive, can last so much longer than fast fashion and you can keep it for many years to come - especially handbags! I'd love to have a Gucci bag or a Chanel boy bag that's for sure! But as lovely as those bags are, I always go for the dupes as they cost so much less money. My bag that I have in this outfit I've had for a good year and half now and is a Valentino dupe from a suitcase shop would you believe! £25 it cost me and is one of my most worn bags and always gets a compliment whenever I wear it!

I wanted to style this dress differently to what I normally would, but with a french beret. I used to love a good hat as a kid. Growing up I ALWAYS wore a hat, especially a baker boy hat. There's even pictures of me when I was about 3 in a beret - funny side to it, my dad always dressed me like a Victorian child! I suppose the odd style as a child payed off seeing as my style has seem to turn out okay! Heading back to the subject of styling this outfit in a kind of french twist, this beret matches the dress perfectly and adds to the pop of red. I kind of wish it was snowing so I could of shot this outfit in the snow, that would definitely made the red pop even more against the white!

Anyway, I keep going off track when I write! The dress is short enough, but a decent length for me to wear my super long thigh high boots which I've literally worn to death! They cost me £45 in H&M a few years ago and I re-wear them every single A/W season! They've also been on nights out with me too! They go so well with this dress. The material isn't too thick, but isn't too thin either, and I love the way it sits on my shoulders too. The overall style and design of this tartan beauty really is different to what you would normally buy! Perfect winter dress I'd say! Especially with a long coat, boots, tights and cute hat!

  2. Gosh I love that tartan dress, it's so elegant with the off-the-shoulder look! I think I would ditch the black tights and wear them with just over the knee boots, and some red bows in my hair.
