I've never tried South American food before, but I love Latin American food, which is why most of the time on a night out, you'll find me in Las Iguanas enjoying their chilli nachos with 2 for 1 cocktails!

I was intrigued when I was invited to Bodega Cantina to try out their new menu! I've been loving expanding on tasting and trying new foods over the last year, as I'm one of THE fussiest eaters going and I was rather scared with trying this, but my gosh...did this open my eyes to new foods and flavours! Let's see what me, Adam & Flint tucked into on our day out in Birmingham - after a very fun day spent at Legoland Discovery Centre.

Bodega Cantina
Slow Roasted Chipotle Beef Brisket Chilli - £6.75
Bodega Cantina

Whilst Flint (Adam's nephew) was fast asleep due to all the excitement at Legoland, myself and Adam ordered a starter which was a Slow-Roasted Chipotle Beef Brisket Chilli on cheesy nachos. When these came out, it didn't look very presentable, but the taste is the most important thing in my book. The nachos were more like baked tortilla slices with cheese on top, which I rather enjoyed! The beef on the other hand was rather stringy, if this was more like chilli beef I would of much rather preferred it, but I was happy to try something new and this was certainly a new experience for my taste buds that went down not bad at all!

Bodega Cantina
Peruvian Lomo Saltado - £12.50
Bodega Cantina

For mains, me & Adam were struggling to decide, as honestly, there wasn't a massive amount of choice if your a fussy eater. I ended up going for the Peruvian Lomo Saltado which was Teriyaki Beef with rice and vegetables. I'd never tried this before, so I had my fingers crossed that I'd actually like it, and you know what it was SO good! I would of preferred it to be chicken rather than beef, but that's just me as I prefer chicken. It was SO nice though! It was a rather large bowl of it so I couldn't finish the whole thing unfortunately, but I'd definitely have this again sometime!

Bodega Cantina
Argentinian Style Rump Steak - £14.50
Bodega Cantina

Adam went for the Argentinian Style Rump Steak which was covered in chimichurri sauce, which honestly wasn't for Adam's taste buds. But the steak over all was nice, the presentation was lovely and it came with Sweet Potato fries that I tucked in to as I wanted to try them again, and they tasted SO nice! As I've tried other sweet potato fries in other restaurants and they weren't as good, so Bodega gets top marks for the best sweet potato fries I've tried!

Bodega Cantina
Passion Fruit Twist Mocktail - £3.00
Bodega Cantina

Overall, the food was very different for us but we enjoyed it. Not something we would normally go for and we love to try new things! The drinks were nice, I had a mocktail and Adam had a standard Diet Coke, so we didn't expand on the drinks very much. The prices for the food was rather high if I'm honest, but I've been to restaurants with higher prices if I'm honest! The service I had to say was a bit slow, but it was a busy Saturday afternoon to be honest, but the staff were willing to help when we asked for things. The only thing that went wrong was that Adam asked for wedges and not sweet potato fries so we had to wait longer for those. Also Flint woke up in time to get some lovely chocolate ice cream too! If I was to rate this restaurant out of 5 I'd give it a 4/5 as there's room for improvement but we still enjoyed our time there!
