Rome is such beautiful city with its centuries old buildings and statues all around the place. We booked a 4 day trip to Rome & packed in as much as we possibly could to see during the trip. I've added in a 4 day itinerary at the bottom of this post as a guide for you to go off incase you wanted to follow along for your own travels.
Trevi Fountain
Possibly the prettiest fountain I've ever seen, I had actual goosebumps seeing this hundreds of years old fountain in real life. I'd had it on my vision board to see for 2024 & seeing it in person honestly didn't feel real. Probably the place that should be at the top of your list to visit in the heart of Rome. Make sure to stop by Pizza in Trevi for dinner and order a pizza and a Cacio et Pepe pasta which comes out in an actual bowl of cheese, actually heaven.
The Pantheon
Built almost 2000 years ago, the Pantheon is absolutely breathtaking with so much history attached to it, not to mentioned the grand size of it. Also free to go into if you'd like to see more of the inside. There's also a lovely fountain & restaurants to eat in the area that give you a stunning view of the spectacular historic building.
Spanish Steps
Known to be in many films & series, the Spanish steps are located right by all the designer shops for you to browse around after getting your photos & walking up to the top of the stairs to see the view.
Colosseum
Another almost 2000 year old building with so much history & many films being created here, the Colosseum has to be another one to be at the top of your list to visit. You can also visit the Forum Romanum as part of your visit too.
Castle Sant Angelo
You don't necessarily have to go into the castle to see it, you can see the beautiful architecture from the outside. This is also on route to St Peter's Basilica & Apostolic Palace to visit the Popes house.
Galleries, Museums & Churches
There's plenty of galleries, museums & beautiful churches to visit in Rome. Here's a few that you might like to visit:
- Palazzo Colonna Gallery (15 euros)
- Church of Saint Ignatious (free)
- Doria Pamphilij Gallery (16 euros online, 17 euros in person)
- Vatican Museum
- Borghese Gallery
Vittoriano
My absolute favourite building & one of the more recent builds in Rome in 1911. I loved how beautiful & bright this building was. The size & scale of it is massive, photos really don't do it justice. There's an incredible view from the top of the Vittoriano as well, but I'm sure you have to pay for this.
