Food | Vegan Afternoon Tea at Laura Ashley The Tea Rooms Coventry

Laura Ashley Tea Rooms

Afternoon tea, Vegan style. Afternoon tea is one of my favourite things to have. Especially in such a pleasant, calming and beautiful environment as to which the Laura Ashley Tea Rooms clearly is.

Based within the Chace Hotel in Coventry, this absolute gem that is hidden away at the back of Coventry, that I didn't even know was there until I was invited along to review the scrumptious Vegan Afternoon Tea Menu. Considering how I absolutely failed at being a Vegan at The Cosy Club Vegan menu review (read that post here), I actually really enjoyed the majority of the Vegan food we were offered!

I took my lovely best friend Stacie to accompany myself to this lovely opportunity - always best with your favourite gal pal of course. We were waited on by a lovely young gentleman dressed very classy with the traditional Laura Ashley Tea Rooms apron of course. I love it when you go somewhere and you have the best service from a waiter/waitress, it honestly makes your visit that more pleasant and lovely!

To start off, drinks. I went for your classic English breakfast tea with almond milk (as I can't have cow's milk either way with being lactose intolerant), so this was great that they had almond milk in for me! Stacie went for a nice hot chocolate and hers came out with almond milk, which she'd never tried before and actually really liked! And that's shocking as she's so difficult with trying new food or drinks! The only downside was that the drinks got cold quite quickly, this may be because of the room temperature maybe? But either way, we enjoyed the drinks regardless.

For our starters, we had THE cutest Carrot & Tomato soup in tiny cup and saucers! The soup was so delicious and I could of eaten a giant bowl of it because it was so tasty! I love how they decorated the soup with a tiny pansy on each cup, that tiny bit of extra effort goes a long way - especially for myself when it comes to photographing these sorts of things!

Moving on to the afternoon tea cake & sandwich stand itself. We started with the savoury snacks first of course, as much as I love cake, I'll always go for the savoury/salty food first! The first snack that caught my eye first was the Avocado & Lime slice. Now I'm not a fan of avocado, but for some strange reason, I quite enjoyed tucking into this strange concoction that was an array of different flavours in my mouth. Next up I tried the cucumber sandwiches, which aren't something I've had before surprisingly! And I actually really enjoyed them! There were other sandwich options which were; tomato and onion, as well as roasted peppers. I'm not a fan of any of these so I decided not to try these out as they weren't my cup of tea!

CAKES! Who doesn't love cake?! Especially if it's dairy free and full of goodness! There was plenty of choice for us to choose from that's for sure! I, of course, tried one of everything. The first super cute and small cake I tried was, the mini Victoria sponge cake with coconut cream inside. Even though I don't like coconuts, I thoroughly enjoyed devouring this tiny portion of sweetness! Next up on my munch list was the chocolate cake, this was rather nice surprisingly, with a couple of nicely presented dollops of coconut cream, decorated with half a slice of raspberry on each side. Went straight down to my belly that's for sure! Banana and walnut cake was the next opponent for my taste test and it was quite lovely actually and I don't even like walnuts! But I love banana bread! Lastly on the cake plate was the coconut cream raspberry macaroon. Now, I actually ADORE macaroons, but this one just wasn't the one. My relationship with this macaroon was definitely a swipe left kind of vibe when I tasted it. Definitely not nice with coconut cream. Other than this, the cakes we GORGEOUS!

Vegan Scones complimented by coconut cream, raspberry jam and blackcurrant jam were a nice finishing touch to the afternoon tea experience. They honestly tasted better than the scones with dairy in if I'm honest! They weren't too hard and weren't too soft either, perfect scones in my stomachs opinion - I even brought one home to my mum and she loved it too! I couldn't go to afternoon tea without bringing back a scone for her when she loves clotted cream scones.

Overall, my experience with Laura Ashley Tea Rooms has left a mark and I will certainly be returning (as I've already booked a table for myself and my Mum for a Mothers Day gift). The environment at first was very quite, but lovely, then our lovely waiter played some classical music for us, which added a lovely touch to the classy decor. The decor is stunning and it's giving me interior vibes for my future house that's for sure. I highly recommend you visiting the Laura Ashley Tea Rooms! Even if it's for a normal afternoon tea! It's only £20 per person! They have the rooms in Coventry, Solihull & Burnham Beeches. So definitely book yourself an afternoon filled with delicious treats if your in the area of one of them!
